Ispirations

I really like this limited edition Xbox 360, but personally, I use Playstation (mostly because of the handheld integration). So, I decided to do an R2-D2 paint job on a Playstation 2 Slim. It has a more box like style with flat surfaces unlike the PS3. This made it easier to paint shapes.

I am pretty happy with how the design turned out. I started by taking everything apart, and using scotch bright to rough up the different parts (except the buttons, the memory card doors, etc.). Then I painted them white. I used paint pens to hand draw some designs from R2-D2 reference photos. I was a little bit impatient when waiting for the paint to dry. So, some of the base coat of white paint got pushed around while I was drawing the designs with the paint pens. This results in some imperfections. For the lights, I used some sections of the LED strips that I cut out. I soldered wires to the blue connector, and wired it to one of the USB ports. So, when you press the power button, the lights turn on.
